Kern County attorney and activist Emilio Huerta, who is considering a run for California's 21st Congressional District, will speak to the Tulare County Democratic Central Committee at 6:30 p.m. today at the committee's Visalia downtown offices, 208 W. Main St.

Huerta, who's the son of activist Dolores Huerta, said he wants to consider the impact a run at political would have on his family and career.

Huerta has served as general counsel and corporate secretary of the Cesar Chavez Foundation, and also as executive vice president of Housing and Community Economic Development.

Huerta began his career as a negotiator for the United Farm Workers.

"I think looking at the 21st Congressional District, looking at the demographic makeup of the people in the district, I think it is important that a Democrat run for that district," Huerta said. "I think a Latino would better serve that district."

The district includes the southern portion of Tulare County.
